Yes the policy will be wordy and everyone knows that trawling through it for small details is a pain. But consider the downside: if you happen to rely on something you thought was in it it could cost you thousands. Agreed with your view point that it is always better to spend few minutes to investigate the policy and confirm if it is providing all the things that one is expecting or not. Most of the people do not consider it is much important and falls into trouble when they requests for a claim which was not covered.
